Uses Of Wall Mirrors

Author: Theodore Category: Wall Mirrors

When we talk of wall mirrors, we envision the regular bathroom mirrors that are found in almost every bathroom that we go into. This is correct. But today mirrors have hundreds of other uses. There are now mirrors in other rooms other than the bathroom. This can be in walk ways, living rooms, outside in the from porch and many other places. There are now entire walls and sometimes even buildings and houses made entirely with mirrors. Who can forget the Hubble telescope which has some of the most advanced mirrors in the world?  Also the cosmic observatories whose sole purpose is to gaze at the stars are full of high-tech mirrors. Then there are mirrors in cars, planes and the list is endless. Originally, mirrors were not made of glass as we know them today because the technology to process glass was still unknown. In Turkey, workers used volcanic rocks that had reflective qualities. These were further polished to form a smoother surface that could reflect. The Mayans and other South and Central American tribes used polished stone to form mirrors not to mention weapons. Then the Romans took over the technology and stared refining sand to form the glass that we recognize today. So how many uses are exist for mirrors especially on the wall?

One of the most common uses for mirrors is on the walls. This is the traditional way when we talk of mirrors. This is because wall mirrors are used for grooming. It is unthinkable to take a shower, brush your teeth and brush your hair without glancing at the mirror. Second to the toilet, the bath area and the water, the mirror is the most important aspect of a rest room. Women actually get into the rest room, not to use the rest room but to look at themselves in the mirror. That is why there is a “powder room” in many elegant places such as hotels and ball rooms not to mention some offices. Most women carry handbags and purses because they carry a powder box or a make-up box which they know they can use whenever they find a mirror on a wall. So mirrors in the restroom and the powder room are literally indispensable when it comes to the beauty world.

Another indispensable use of mirrors on the walls is at beauty shops. Imagine a beauty shop with no mirrors. That would be totally absurd and you can bet that the salon would not have any business whatsoever. When someone frequents a beauty salon, it is so that they can enhance their looks and this cannot be achieved if there are no mirrors to look at. Mirrors at salons must be clean and bright because they need to reflect the true image of the person’s looks. They also need to be large because sometimes when someone’s hair is done, they need to see how they look with that hairstyle. Other beauty places such as spas also need large wall mirrors.
